Ajax is well on its way to retaining Dies Janse (18) for a longer period. Among other things, The Telegraph reports that the defender can sign a new contract at the Johan Cruijff ArenA until at least 2028, where he is currently contracted until mid-2026. Janse's contract extension is considered a top priority in Amsterdam, as he is expected to play a major role in the future.

Janse is playing with Ajax 1 this preparation and makes an exceptionally strong impression. Francesco Farioli is charmed by the Zeeuw and has already given him playing time in several practice matches.

What Janses role will be this year is unclear, but in any case Ajax sees him as 'a boy for the future'. In turn, the youth international is convinced of the plan that the Amsterdammers have outlined.

Janse can sign a new contract until mid-2029, or at least until mid-2028. In the latter case, the teenager will have the option for another season.

Janse has been with Ajax since 2020. At that time, the record champion took over the defender from Sparta Rotterdam, where he had spent two years.

Janse is a left-footed player who can be deployed as both a centre-back and a left-back. Farioli has so far used 'the surprise of the preparation' exclusively in the former position.

In the most recent practice match against Al-Wasl (2-1 win) Youri Baas was in that position. Janse was sidelined for ninety minutes.
