Latest update:

Thijs Jansen will continue his career at SC Cambuur, reports Omrop Friesland Thursday evening. The 22-year-old goalkeeper from Lisse is being taken over from Feyenoord, where he still had a year under contract. The Rotterdammers are reportedly receiving a modest transfer fee for Jansen.

At Cambuur, Jansen will be the successor of Yanick van Osch, who left for RKC Waalwijk at the beginning of this summer. The Feyenoord youth product will compete with Daan Reiziger (23) and Brett Minnema (22). Transfer market estimates Jansen's market value at 450,000 euros, but it is not yet known what he actually earns his childhood sweetheart.

Jansen is allowed to leave Feyenoord, as he has been surpassed in Rotterdam by younger goalkeeping talents such as Mikki van Sas (20) and Mannou Berger (19). Van Sas, who was acquired from Manchester City last summer, seems likely to become the third goalkeeper in De Kuip next season.

Last season Jansen played for De Graafschap. According to The Gelderlander had the Super Farmers would have liked to take him over permanently from Feyenoord, but the goalkeeper prefers a new adventure in Leeuwarden.

Jansen eventually played 25 times for De Graafschap. He conceded 36 goals in those games. Jansen kept a clean sheet eight times. A season earlier, Feyenoord had the talent stabled at TOP Oss, where he was also the first keeper.

For Jansen, ten years at Feyenoord are coming to an end. In the 2018/19 season, at the age of sixteen, he was loaned to the youth academy of FC Groningen, to come out of his shell a bit more. After his return, Jansen proved to be an excellent goalkeeper in several youth teams of Feyenoord, Doetinchem and Oss.
