Mauricio Pochettino (52) can continue his career as national coach anyway. In addition to the unemployed coach being in the picture with the national team of England, the United States has also set its sights on Pochettino, according to American media.

After the firing of Gregg Berhalter, it is USMNT eagerly looking for a successor. The track record Pochettino's move would make the Argentine an ideal candidate.

Pochettino, as he writes among other things, NBC Sportsmanaged to turn 'underdog' Tottenham Hotspur into a club that competes for the prizes. That fact would certainly do the relatively young American team no harm.

Pochettino has several irons in the fire, though. The coach is also one of the top candidates to succeed Gareth Southgate at the England national team.

Southgate stepped down from his duties last Tuesday after almost eight years in charge. After losing the second European Championship final in a row, the 53-year-old coach decided it was time for a new challenge.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe, the unemployed Graham Potter and Pochettino are reportedly among the candidates for Southgate's successor. Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel and Lee Carsley – manager of the English U21s – are also on the FA's list, according to the English branch of the ESPN.

According to The Telegraph Ange Postecoglou was also in the picture, but the English federation considers him unattainable. Postecoglou is in a good place at Tottenham Hotspur and the North Londoners would also rather not lose their coach.

Whatever it is, Pochettino will be hoping his next job goes better than Chelsea, after the Argentine struggled last season at the Blues and finished a disappointing sixth in the Premier League.

Partly because of this, Pochettino and Chelsea decided to part ways by mutual consent, two years after his dismissal from Paris Saint-Germain. In Paris, Pochettino had to leave due to the lack of success in the Champions League.
