FC Barcelona rewards Lamine Yamal with new shirt number

Yamal will play with number 19 for FC Barcelona starting next season, the club announced on social media on Wednesday. He will hand in number 27 and take over the new number on his back from Vitor Roque, who does not yet know which number he will be assigned.

The seventeen-year-old winger is now assured of a place in the first team for next season. During the last European Championship, he also wore number 19 in the Spanish selection. With his new shirt number, Yamal follows in the footsteps of Lionel Messi, Patrick Kluivert and Ibrahim Afellay.
