Latest update:

Tristan Gooijer will be loaned to PEC Zwolle next season, Ajax confirmed on Tuesday afternoon. The nineteen-year-old defender from his own academy is apparently not in Francesco Farioli's plans for next season and can play for the Bluefingers gain the necessary experience. Gooijer's contract with Ajax runs until mid-2026

“I am looking forward to the coming year at PEC Zwolle. The club has always had an attractive way of playing and has often shown itself to be a great place for young players to develop further. I hope to make that development here next year as well,” said Gooijer after he was officially presented by PEC.

“Tristan is a good player in whom we see a lot of potential,” explains technical director Gerry Hamstra. “For us, Tristan is a direct reinforcement for the last line, where he can play in multiple positions. We wish Tristan a lot of success at our beautiful club.”

Gooijer played sporadically for the Ajax first team last season. He played nine times in the Eredivisie, three times in European competition. In addition, Gooijer played one match in the TOTO KNVB Cup.

Next season, the right back will not play a role in the first team of the Amsterdammers, which means he can gain experience elsewhere. Farioli probably sees more salvation in Devyne Rensch and Anton Gaaei, the other options at right back.

It is unknown whether the Zwolle players have negotiated a purchase option for the wing defender. Gooijer will join the Eredivision club from Zwolle immediately.

For the team of trainer Johnny Jansen, Gooijer is the third reinforcement of this summer. Earlier, Thierry Lutonda was transferred on a free transfer from RKC Waalwijk and Thomas Buitink came over from Vitesse.
