Quinten Timber is temporarily unavailable for Feyenoord, it was reported Football International Tuesday. The midfielder was injured in the practice match against KRC Genk and seems likely to miss a 'large part' of the preparation.

A few days after Timber's failure, it becomes clear that he will be out of circulation for some time. There is a good chance that he will miss a large part of the preparation, although the date of his possible return is not known.

He will have to miss the upcoming practice matches, it is said. Feyenoord still plays against Cercle Brugge, Benfica and AS Monaco, after which the battle with PSV for the Johan Cruijff Shield is on the program on August 4.

Timber's return to Feyenoord was short-lived on Saturday afternoon. The 22-year-old midfielder, who started as captain during the friendly match against KRC Genk, was injured and had to be replaced by Antoni Milambo after 33 minutes. Timber initially tried to continue playing, but that ultimately proved impossible.

After a tackle from the exceptionally hard-playing Genk, Timber seemed to have trouble with his leg. The Utrecht player tried to play out the pain, but then let himself be substituted. After his substitution, Timber went straight into the tunnel towards the dressing rooms of De Kuip.

Timber had to miss the European Championship due to an injury, but returned to the training field at Feyenoord last week. During Priske's second week, he was able to fully participate in all group sessions.

The Rotterdammers' playmaker was injured at the end of last season in the match against PEC Zwolle, after which he was absent from the matches against NEC Nijmegen and Excelsior.
