Enzo Fernández has caused quite a stir with a video on Instagram. After the Copa América victory, he filmed the celebration of the Argentina team on the bus, but he incurred the wrath of Chelsea teammates and the French federation, among others.

After the victory over Colombia in the final of the Copa América (1-0, after extra time), the Argentinean selection was ecstatic with joy. In the bus after the match there was a lot of singing, but after a while Fernández made a mistake in the eyes of many.

The Argentina midfielder suddenly launched into a chant made up by Argentina supporters at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

“They play for France, but they come from Angola,” was one of the lyrics sung at the time by many Argentinians, who also hurled hurtful slogans at Kylian Mbappé.

On the bus, Fernández started that exact song, but was advised by one of his teammates to stop filming immediately. That advice came too late, because many already heard which song the Argentine was referring to.

Fernández's action leads to much anger among Chelsea teammates. Among others, Wesley Fofana expresses his anger and writes 'unbridled racism' at Fernández's video. Moreover, according to various media, he immediately unfollowed the Argentine. Axel Disasi and Malo Gusto (both also Chelsea) followed Fofana's example.

At the same time, the French Football Federation has filed a complaint against the Argentinians. “Given the seriousness of the texts, which go against the values of sport and human rights, we have decided to file a legal complaint regarding racism and discrimination,” the federation wrote via official channels.
