Besiktas are on the verge of strengthening themselves with Ciro Immobile, Fabrizio Romano wrote on Wednesday evening. The Black Eagles are set to sign the Italian Serie A legend for two seasons.

The final details are currently being discussed, after which Immobile will definitively continue his career in Istanbul. Lazio, the club where he still has two years left on his contract, has given the green light for the transfer to go ahead.

Immobile will leave Lazio as an absolute club legend. The 34-year-old striker is the Romans' all-time top scorer with 207 goals, for which he also provided 54 assists in the 340 games he played for the club.

According to Italian media, Lazio initially asked for ten million euros for their captain and lowered the asking price to five million euros on Tuesday evening. Now Lazio would even settle for a transfer fee of three million euros.

Immobile is said to have become frustrated in recent years by some Lazio fans, who criticized him for what they saw as poor performances. Immobile himself hoped for more credit for his loyalty and goal production during his time at the club.

Things came to a head last year when Immobile was 'verbally and physically' attacked by a Lazio fan outside his four-year-old son's school in front of his wife Jessica. Lazio president Claudio Lotito refused to stand up for Immobile, claiming that this 'happens to him every day'.

Immobile was due to undergo a medical at Lazio on Tuesday to assess his physical condition ahead of the 2024/25 season, but was conspicuous by his absence, thus reinforcing his desire to move to Besiktas.

Immobile, who also played for Juventus, Genoa and Torino, has scored a total of 201 Serie A goals, which puts him eighth on the all-time Serie A goalscorer list, just behind Roberto Baggio (208).
