Jarkko Tuomisto is the new goalkeeping coach of Ajax. This was reported by Football International Monday evening. The 48-year-old Finn succeeds Jelle ten Rouwelaar, who left for Manchester United after just two weeks.

Tuomisto is being taken over from OGC Nice, where he already worked with Francesco Farioli, the new Ajax coach.

The Finn and Italian previously worked together at Fatih Karagümrük and Alanyaspor. Now Tuomisto will start as Ajax's first goalkeeper coach.

In May it was announced that Ten Rouwelaar would become the new goalkeeper coach of the Amsterdammers. Last week, when he had only been employed by Ajax for two weeks, he was taken over by Manchester United.

According to The Telegraph Ajax's club management did not put any obstacles in his way to enter into employment with the Red DevilsIn Manchester he would earn three times his salary at Ajax, while the latter club earned an amount of 100,000 euros from his departure.

In the past period, Erik Heijblok, the goalkeeping coach of Jong Ajax, took over the honours of the first team of the Amsterdam club. Now Tuomisto takes over from him.

Tuomisto is the fifth staff member that Farioli has brought from Ajax. He previously brought assistants Daniele Cavalletto and Felipe Sanchez Mateos, video analyst Osman Kul and fitness coach Callum Walsh.
