The Turkish goal that the Dutch team conceded on Saturday evening was Bart Verbruggen's fault, according to Johan Derksen. The moustache analyses the counter goal at Today Inside the Dutch and can only conclude that the goalkeeper is making a mistake.

Where the Dutch team started strongly against Turkey, it was evident that Ronald Koeman's men struggled with the Southern Europeans' style of play later in the first half. In the 35th minute it resulted in 0-1 for Turkey.

From a cross from the right, Samet Akaydin headed in. The Fenerbahçe centre-back was able to head in an almost empty goal, because Verbruggen was nowhere near.

The Brighton & Hove Albion keeper had taken a few steps forward in the hope of intercepting the cross, but Verbruggen misjudged the ball, allowing the Turkish marker to score.

“If he takes three steps to the right, he can get to the ball,” Derksen analyses the moment. “He just has to go with the ball, you can time that.”

“Now he has no chance at all, he does everything wrong actually,” the analyst does not hold back at all. “If he walks to the right, then he is there.”

Derksen does acknowledge that Verbruggen is 'an excellent line keeper'. “He is a master at that”, emphasises the former left back.
