Latest update:

Feyenoord has given Mats Wieffer permission to officially enter into talks with Brighton & Hove Albion, reports Martijn Krabbendam of Football International Thursday afternoon via X. The journalist writes that the Rotterdammers are on the eve of a historic deal, with which he seems to mean breaking the outgoing transfer record.

Via the website of VI Krabbendam adds to his news. Wieffer and his entourage will sit down with Brighton in the coming days to discuss his personal conditions. “As soon as these talks are completed, Brighton will report to De Kuip. The expectation is that both clubs will then quickly reach a definitive agreement,” according to the journalist.

Krabbendam knows that Wieffer is open to leaving Feyenoord. “Last winter he wanted to go to Atlético Madrid, but Feyenoord blocked the deal. Now the club wants to cooperate.” Wieffer is still contracted to De Kuip until mid-2027, but Brighton will most likely buy out his contract.
