Latest update:

Dani de Wit will be active in the Bundesliga next season. The attacking midfielder leaves AZ on a free transfer and has found a new employer in VfL Bochum. De Wit signs a contract in the Ruhr area until mid-2028.

It had been known for some time that De Wit would no longer be admired in Alkmaar after the summer. It was his own decision to start a new adventure after five years at AZ.

Then the speculation about his future had started. It soon became clear that De Wit was interested in a foreign new employer and in particular a club from a top 5 competition.

There was reportedly interest from Italy, but the choice fell on the German Bochum, where De Wit will meet three former Eredivisie players in Felix Passlack, Matús Bero and Maximilian Wittek.

Bochum will be active at the highest level of Germany next season. The former employer of Gertjan Verbeek finished in sixteenth place in the Bundesliga last year and managed to maintain itself via the play-offs.

De Wit is very happy with his transfer. “I can hardly wait to start here at VfL Bochum and play in this stadium for the fans”, he said on the club channels.

“The club, the fans, the stadium – all of that made me choose Bochum. I've heard a lot about the atmosphere in the stadium, it's really loud here. For me it's the perfect combination: the dedication from the stands and the hard work on the pitch.”
