Matthew Amoah junior has signed his first professional contract with Feyenoord, the Rotterdam club announced via official channels. The fifteen-year-old attacking midfielder is therefore tied to De Kuip until mid-2027. Amoah junior is the son of former cult striker Matthew Amoah, who scored 116 goals and provided 35 assists in 316 Eredivisie matches.

Under the watchful eye of his father, among others, Amoah junior signed his name in the press centre of De Kuip. The midfielder and attacker made himself heard via the club website of Feyenoord. “I am very proud that I was able to sign my first contract with Feyenoord.”

“I've been playing at the club since I was a young boy and have been working towards this wonderful moment for all these years. Next season I want to take the next step in my development and I hope to be important for my team again by giving assists and scoring goals,” said Amoah junior.

Amoah junior started playing football at Baronie in Breda and was picked up at a young age by Feyenoord, where he has played in all the highest youth teams so far. After the summer break he will join Feyenoord Under 17.

In the coming years, Amoah junior hopes to follow in his father's footsteps. Amoah senior was a beloved striker who played in the Netherlands for Vitesse, Fortuna Sittard, NAC Breda, sc Heerenveen and Heracles Almelo.

Abroad, the now 43-year-old Amoah senior was under contract with Borussia Dortmund and the Turkish Mersin IY. On behalf of Ghana, he played 45 international matches, in which the striker scored 12 goals. Amoah senior played six international matches at a World Cup.
