Aloys Wijnker should become the new head of PSV's youth academy, it is reported Eindhovens Dagblad and Football International Monday. The people of Eindhoven are looking for a successor to Ernest Faber, who will work as director of football affairs at the Australian Adelaide United FC.

Wijnker is not an unknown name for general manager Marcel Brands. The duo knows each other from their time together at AZ. Wijnker now works at the KNVB, in the role of Top Youth Football Manager.

Rik Elfrink, journalist on behalf of the ED, seems enthusiastic about Wijnker. “Wijnker worked with Brands and Stewart at AZ in the past and during that period the training in Alkmaar was set up in a sound manner, according to many.”

Brands hopes to convince Wijnker to start working at De Herdgang. The national champion is looking for two people for the role of head of youth training. In addition to Wijnker, Phillip Cocu had an interview in Eindhoven.

Cocu will have to work more as a transition coach, guiding talents in their final steps to the Philips Stadium. It is currently unclear whether he is interested in that, as the former midfielder has served as head coach at PSV, Fenerbahçe, Derby County and Vitesse over the past decade.

Faber, who left for Australia, played the role of head of youth training at PSV for six seasons. Before that he worked as a trainer at NEC and FC Groningen. At Adelaide United, Faber is responsible for the incoming and outgoing transfers of a first team for the first time.
