Ajax will present Francesco Farioli as the new head coach by Friday at the latest. Kenneth Perez believes that the 35-year-old Italian should be given a fair chance and is surprised by the opinions of some analysts.

Van Basten recently reacted with surprise Rondo by Ziggo Sports. “I am not informed, I do not know the man,” Van Basten said when asked about his opinion about Farioli.

“I find it very strange that Ajax comes from nowhere with a name that nothing and no one actually knows.” The analyst said he does not understand why Ajax chose Farioli and prefers to see a trainer who has achieved even more in his career.

However, the people from Amsterdam persevered last week and were fully committed to the arrival of the trainer who finished fifth in Ligue 1 with OGC Nice. Ajax expects Farioli in Amsterdam on Thursday, after which the verbal agreement will be converted into a signature.

Perez response

Perez joined after the Europa League final between Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen (3-0). ESPN on Farioli's impending arrival. “We don't know him, so he's completely shit. You hear so many people say that… I find it quite amazing that people say: 'I've never heard of Farioli, so that can't be anything,' Perez said. “As if that were an indicator…”

Fellow analyst Kees Kwakman also does not know much about Farioli, but calls his appointment 'very interesting' in advance. “We read some things about how he plays at Nice, but we don't know him and he probably has a completely different view of what we are used to. I'm really looking forward to finding out how he works and how he makes Ajax play football.”

Perez would find it great if Farioli succeeds in making Ajax a champion candidate again in a short time. Kwakman, however, thinks that the Italian coach has been given a more important task. “What you mainly heard and what I read about what they were looking for in a trainer is that they want to see that a team develops and that the players develop individually.”

“Of course Ajax always has to play for the championship, but I think that is also just as important at Ajax. That you look at a team and think: hey, they play with an idea, there is a thought behind it and those boys develop individually. We all cannot imagine that the boys who now play at Ajax cannot do better than what they have shown,” said Kwakman.
