Top players, but also clubs from home and abroad, provide an insight into the ins and outs of the football world (almost) every day via Instagram, X or other internet channels. In this edition of VZ Social attention to Marten de Roon, who reported on social media after winning the Europa League.

The Dutch international, who had to miss the final against Bayer Leverkusen (3-0) due to an injury, regularly proves to have a sense of humor online.

Even after winning the Europa League, it was a hit again. De Roon posted three different photos. The midfielder started with a photo of himself holding up the Europa League cup as co-captain, while not looking too photogenic at the cup.

“I mean, did you expect something different?”, De Roon refers with a wink to the fact that Bayer Leverkusen was the obvious favorite prior to the final. The historic unbeaten run of Xabi Alonso's team came to an end against Atalanta after 51 games.

De Roon continued in a new post in a serious tone: “We have made history. I cannot express in words how incredibly proud I am of this team, the city of Atalanta and our supporters.” Ultimately, the midfielder got laughs again with a third post. This time he shared a photo of his time at Sparta Rotterdam, which again he doesn't look too good on. “If this boy can win the Europa League, don't give up on your dreams,” the caption read.
