Manchester City have secured the services of Cavan Sullivan, claims Fabrizio Romano. The only fourteen-year-old super talent from the United States is taken over from Philadelphia Union.

City weren't the only European powerhouse chasing Sullivan. Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid were also reportedly keen to sign the teenager.

Ultimately, it was City that came out on top. It is expected that the Citizens We can welcome Sullivan to the youth academy in the coming years.

The hand-binder, born in 2009, is an attacking midfielder who, in addition to being American, also has German nationality. Since the summer of 2020, he has been staying at the Philadelphia Union Academy.

According to Romano, it is only a matter of time before Suvillan can officially call himself a City player. The deal was closed two weeks ago, although it seems we are waiting for the final signatures.

18 years

The Athletic adds that Suvillan will only move to England when he is eighteen. The agreement would include high add-ons, including a sell-through percentage.

Meanwhile, Suvillan is finalizing an MLS contract with Philadelphia Union. Sources say the deal is the largest in MLS history. As soon as the midfielder has signed his contract, he can make his debut in the main squad for Union.

Philadelphia Union and City have agreed that Suvillan will first be posted elsewhere in Europe with the City Football Group if his development exceeds that of MLS before the age of 18. European clubs affiliated with the CFG include Girona, Troyes and Palermo.

Previously knew The Athletic to report that City tried to sign Suvillan to Belgian side Lommel SK when he was sixteen, before he joined City when he was eighteen. It has now been agreed that he will stay in America as long as possible.

About Suvillan

Suvillan is considered one of the best players of his age in America and the world. He led the United States Under 15s to the CONCACAF title in 2023 and took home the Golden Ball for best player.

Last weekend, Suvillan made his professional debut in the second team of Philadelphia Union, which plays in the MLS Next Pro, a so-called development league. The teenager immediately provided the winning assist.

If the teenage talent joins the main squad, he will play together with his brother. Cavan's older brother, Quinn (19), is currently part of Philadelphia's first team squad.
