Xavi Simons should not play the victim. Anco Jansen said this on Wednesday evening Football talk. The attacker and winger of the Dutch national team has recently stopped talking to the Dutch press and that has raised eyebrows.

“Simons is not feeling well? He is feeling great,” says Mario Been about Simons. “He is playing fantastic in the Bundesliga with Leipzig. I saw him play against Real Madrid in the Champions League, that was really crazy.”

“That boy is twenty years old and cannot yet handle the pressure that we put on him, that he can become a contributing player in the Dutch team. We may have to deal with that differently. It is clear that he is a talented and good player. .”

Boycott

Simons refuses to speak to the Dutch press for the time being. The attacking midfielder feels unfairly treated by the media and previously refused to talk to the Dutch press after the Champions League match with Leipzig against Real Madrid.

“Isn't that sad?” Anco Jansen agrees. “He shouldn't want that at all, that victim role. He is a player with a lot of potential, but just stand in front of the camera and let your story be heard.”

Been agrees with Jansen. “They have to tell him that that is not appropriate. I think he should think for once that criticism is part of football.”

“He just has to take in the good things and let the bad things slide. But it is certain that we will hear a lot more from this boy in the shirt of the Dutch national team,” Been concludes.
