According to Wesley Sneijder, Quinten Timber deserves to become a regular starter for the Dutch national team. The record international of the Dutch team said this on Monday evening Veronica Offside. According to Sneijder, the 22-year-old Feyenoord midfielder is having an excellent season.

“Isn't Timber playing in the Dutch starting line-up? Isn't that great to watch?” Sneijder begins his song of praise. “This boy is doing fantastic. We can be happy that he is there. And I think Koeman shares my opinion.”

Martijn Krabbendam, Feyenoord and Oranje watcher on behalf of Football International, is then also asked for his opinion. “Timber in the starting line-up for the Dutch team? I do not think so. It is good of him that he is there, but that he has to be in the starting line-up right away… For example, against Lazio away he lost the ball in a position on the field where you are not actually allowed to do that as a midfielder. He does that often,” says Krabbendam.

Sneijder does not agree with him. “He can conquer balls, he did that fantastic again yesterday,” he refers to Feyenoord's match against SC Heerenveen (2-3 win).

“He conquers all the balls and is everywhere. Defensive, offensive… And he's getting fitter. He will now also give through balls and can also shoot fantastically. As far as I'm concerned, he's a regular starter. I think Koeman is also a fan.”

Ruud Gullit

At the same time, Ruud Gullit is also in the program Rondo by Ziggo Sports very complimentary of Timber. “You can really use him in that midfield. What a drive that boy has! He also steals a lot of balls. We don't have many ball grabbers and boys with venom. I'm curious.”

Last week it was announced that Timber was in the final selection of the Dutch national team for the first time. The Dutch team will play two practice matches in the coming week: on March 22 against Scotland and on March 26 against Germany.
