Bart Ramselaar is exchanging FC Utrecht for the Singaporean Lion City Sailors FC with immediate effect, the club from the Dom City announced on its own website on Monday morning. The Amersfoorter's contract has been bought out, bringing the midfielder's second period at FC Utrecht to an end.

FC Utrecht reached an agreement some time ago, but the Asian transfer market does not close until later and therefore the transfer has only now been officially completed. It is unknown what amount the top club from Singapore has transferred for the 27-year-old Ramselaar. FC Utrecht already anticipated the departure of the attacking midfielder during the winter break. Jeppe Okkels and Niklas Vesterlund were picked up from IF Elfsborg and Tromsø IL respectively.

Ramselaar starts his football career with the amateurs of VVZA and Roda'46. Here he left such an impression that Utrecht decided to bring him to the club's youth academy in 2010. The midfielder grows into a youth international in the Cathedral City and makes his debut against Feyenoord on March 1, 2015.

Ramselaar impresses and arouses interest from the top three in the Netherlands. The inspector will leave for PSV in the summer of 2016. He makes 62 appearances at PSV, but is mainly a substitute under coach Phillip Cocu. In the 2017/18 season he will celebrate the national championship with the Eindhoven team. In 2019 he returns to his great love FC Utrecht.

In his second term with the Domstedelingen, Ramselaar has played exactly 100 matches, which brings his total to 149. He managed to score 31 times and provided an assist 16 times. In the current season the counter remained at 11 games. He only scored once.

Technical Director Jordy Zuidam wishes Ramselaar the best of luck on his Asian adventure. “Bart has reached a point in his career where he still wanted to take another step. With the interest of the Lion City Sailors, an opportunity for an overseas adventure arose. We are proud of the fact that Bart, as a child of the club, played for FC Utrecht for many years in his career and wish him the best in Singapore,” he says on the club website.

Ramselaar's new club plays at the highest professional level in Singapore. The renowned Transfer market values the three-time international at two million euros. That immediately makes him the most valuable player in the Singapore Premier League. Until recently, that title was still in the name of his new teammate Maxime Lestienne. The Belgian played for PSV in the 2015/16 season and is the big man in Singapore with 37 goals in 52 games. Former Utrecht player Richairo Zivkovic is also under contract in Bishan. The trainer of the Sailors is Aleksandar Rankovic. He was assistant to former head coach Henk Fraser at Utrecht.
