Pierre van Hooijdonk is deeply impressed by Joey Veerman, as he makes clear during the program Studio Football. The analyst enjoyed the performance of the PSV midfielder in the won match against PEC Zwolle (1-7) and he calls Veerman 'the best player in the Eredivisie' at the moment.

“There is a message behind every pass Veerman gives,” Van Hooijdonk begins. “We have heard it often enough: you have to pass the ball with a message so that the recipient already knows what the purpose of that pass is.”

“With Veerman the ball speed is always perfect. As a recipient you can always do whatever you want with it. During the match he places it six or seven times from left to right on Bakayoko, who can immediately accept it and start his action.â€

“Veerman just never hurts the ball. There is so much feeling in his assumption and in every pass he makes. I have thought about it carefully, but at the moment he is the best player in the Eredivisie. I really think so,' says Van Hooijdonk.

The analyst is convinced that Veerman could easily take a step higher. “I have said before: he can be in the top six of Serie A with two fingers up his nose.â€

Ibrahim Afellay agrees with the words of his colleague. “Together with Jerdy Schouten, he is really the driving force behind PSV. He just gives balls that others can't give.â€

“He also gives balls so that others can have more time for the next action. He is absolutely indispensable for this PSV,' concludes Afellay.
