PSV made no mistake in the title battle on Sunday evening. The Eindhoven team started off with an extremely difficult time when they visited FC Volendam, but ultimately managed to reverse that deficit. Thanks to goals from Ismael Saibari, Jerdy Schouten, Jordan Teze, Ricardo Pepi and Isaac Babadi, the score was 1-5 in the Kras Stadium. Leader PSV is thirteen points away from Feyenoord, which plays at home against Sparta Rotterdam on Sunday. Volendam is seventeenth with the same number of points as bottom line Vitesse.

PSV received good news from the infirmary this week. Peter Bosz chose to immediately return the returned Joey Veerman to the starting lineup. His return came at the expense of Mauro Júnior, who was not included in the match selection.

Robin Maulun made his starting debut at FC Volendam as an attacking midfielder. Josh Flint, who came on as a substitute against FC Utrecht last week (4-2 loss), replaced the injured Axel Guessand at center back.

Volendam couldn't have started the match better. A cross from George Cox was tapped in by Darius Johnson, who was back in the starting line-up at FC Volendam after a long time. The ball was touched just before the goal line by PSV defender André Ramalho, who could not prevent a goal.

PSV gave full chase and equalized in the thirteenth minute. Ismael Saibari was reached on the edge of the penalty area by Jordan Teze, after which the attacking midfielder shot hard and low with the left: 1-1.

Volendam surprisingly could have taken the lead again in the 21st minute. Zach Booth managed to pass PSV goalkeeper Walter BenÃtez, but then shot against the post from an awkward angle.

PSV did not manage to take the lead before half time. Sergiño Dest tried a dangerous shot after a dribble in the fortieth minute, but Mio Backhaus managed to save the ball with his foot.

In the second half, the Eindhoven team still distanced themselves from Volendam. Seven minutes after the break, Schouten was in the right place to convert Luuk de Jong's header from close range into a goal: 1-2. A minute later, De Jong thought he would score himself, but the striker fired from close to the goal against the post.

PSV further increased the pressure, but had to wait until the 74th minute for the liberating 1-3. Saibari came with a good cross towards the far post, which was headed in by Teze.

Bosz came with a triple substitution and will not have regretted it. Ricardo Pepi, one of the substitutes, scored within two minutes of his entrance. De Jong's replacement did not hesitate when he had a shooting opportunity diagonally in front of the goal and hit the far bottom corner: 1-4.

It even became 1-5 in the final phase through Babadi, who had come on for Veerman at half-time. The attacking midfielder was able to tap in a low cross from Patrick van Aanholt, another substitute, from close range.
