Manchester United can continue to dream of Champions League football next season. The Mancunians were too strong for Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon with 1-2. Rasmus Højlund scored again and Scott McTominay provided the winning goal. Douglas Luiz scored on behalf of the home team. Manchester United is still sixth, but is approaching fifth place, where Villa is, on five points.

The first chance of the game was created single-handedly by Alejandro Garnacho. The young Argentinian dribbled past two defenders and lashed out with his left foot. However, his attempt strayed two meters wide of the goal.

A few minutes later, manager Erik ten Hag's men finally scored. Harry Maguire headed a corner from Bruno Fernandes through to Højlund, who tapped in from close range: 0-1. The Danish striker has now scored five Premier League matches in a row.

After the opening goal, Villa frequently pushed for the equalizer. Ollie Watkins had to recognize his superior in André Onana in a one-on-one opportunity. The Cameroonian goalkeeper previously made a good save from a hard shot from John McGinn.

Got early in the second act the Villans a huge chance for the equalizer via Ollie Watkins. The Englishman received the ball low from the side and all he had to do was run into it. However, Onana stood in the way and miraculously kept the ball out of the goal.

After 67 minutes, Unai Emery's team finally scored. Douglas Luiz received the ball at his feet after a reintroduced corner kick and shot hard from close range into the roof of the goal: 1-1.

After the equalizer, both teams had opportunities to get the three points, but in the end it went to Manchester United. Diogo Dalot, who played an excellent match, delivered a nice cross to the head of who else but Scott McTominay, who scored his seventh of the season and made the final score 1-2.
