PSV was stuck at a 1-1 draw in the league match with Ajax on Saturday evening. Jerdy Schouten credits himself with the opening goal of the Amsterdam team in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. The midfielder lost the ball, after which Steven Berghuis gave Ajax the lead.

Schouten believes that he should have handled the situation prior to Ajax's goal differently. “It was a mistake,” the Dutch international admits in front of the camera ESPN. “When a goal is scored, it is of course always looked at a little more strictly. But that's normal.”

Schouten is then shown the images of the moment. “I think he (Steven Bergwijn, ed.) is putting a lot of pressure on me. Then I have to opt for a goal attempt or something else, but not take the risk of losing the ball afterwards. They just finish it well afterwards. ”

In the eyes of reporter Hans Kraay junior, Schouten makes a somewhat disillusioned impression during the interview, but the PSV midfielder wants nothing to do with that. “No no. I haven't been feeling well for a while. I have a respiratory infection and have been in bed with a fever for three days. So I don't feel great, so I think that's why. I am not disillusioned.”

Bosz's response

After the match against Ajax, Bosz already looked back critically at the Eindhoven goal. The PSV coach was asked whether Schouten was to blame for Berghuis' 1-0. “We are attacking there on the edge of the sixteen and losing the ball. He could have committed a tactical violation there,” Bosz indicated.

“There's a lot more going wrong there. André (Ramalho, ed.) did well there by forcing Brobbey to the side and keeping him under good pressure, but then that ball ends up behind Jordan Teze at Berghuis. There “We are far too far away and we know what his qualities are. We should have solved this differently.”

Even though he was not fully fit, Schouten still played 74 minutes in the cracker against Ajax. It was a stroke of luck for Bosz, who was unable to rely on Joey Veerman, Malik Tillman and Noa Lang due to injuries.
