AC Milan has achieved a very difficult victory in the Serie A. The team of coach Stefano Pioli was 2-1 behind mid-table Frosinone in the second half, but managed to put things in order in the final phase: 2-3. Third-placed Milan now has four points less than number two Juventus, which still has a game in hand. Frosinone is fourteenth.

Pioli started Tijjani Reijnders as expected. The Dutch international was central in midfield next to Yacine Adli, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek was allowed to show his skills at 10. Striker Olivier Giroud was flanked by Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic. On Frosinone's side, Abdou Harroui, ex-Sparta Rotterdam, kicked off.

Milan took the lead after more than fifteen minutes of play. Leão had a wonderful cross to the far post, where Giroud showed that he can head excellently. Frosinone claimed that Reijnders had committed a foul in the run-up to that goal, but the protests yielded no results: 0-1.

Milan's lead was quickly threatened after an excellent move by Harroui, who slalomed into the box and delivered the ball to Marco Brescianini. The left back simply did not make it difficult enough for Mike Maignan. Moments later, the French goalie made an excellent save from a ball by Demba Seck.

Frosinone continued to press and was awarded a penalty after a cross from the right ended up on Leão's outstretched arm. Referee Luca Pairetto pointed to the spot and saw Matías Soulé place the penalty perfectly in the corner: 1-1. Milan immediately started looking for the lead again, but they lacked the necessary sharpness i Rossoneri.

Maignan also did not look good after about 65 minutes of play. The Frenchman seemed to be able to block Luca Mazzitelli's shot from an awkward angle, but let the ball slip past him: 2-1. However, Milan soon managed to level the score. A cross to the far post ended up with Giroud, who headed back to Matteo Gabbia. The Italian headed in from close range: 2-2.

Milan continued to push in the final phase. Pioli brought on Luka Jovic, among others, and after the Serbian got the ball at his feet with some luck, he convincingly scored: 2-3. In the final phase, Milan held on relatively easily, so that their lead was no longer in danger.
