Latest update:

Annas El Ghouche, Couhaib Driouech's agent, has spoken out live on television about his client's failed transfer to PSV. El Ghouche mentions the situation at the Transfer Deadline Show by ESPN 'disappointing', but does not blame any of the parties involved. He also provides clarification about his cryptic Instagram Story from earlier that day. “I thought it would be okay to make that known.”

The name 'Driouech' was probably the most common in the sports media on Deadline Day. The Excelsior attacker was interested in Feyenoord and PSV and seemed to transfer to the latter club just before the deadline.

Club photographers were already at De Herdgang when Driouech and his agent received a phone call. “The last option for a worthy successor was off the table, so we were not given permission to continue,” El Ghouche reflects on the moment.

Excelsior therefore missed out on an amount of more than four million euros: a record transfer for the Kralingers. Nevertheless, guaranteeing quality in the selection had the highest priority.

“Excelsior indicated from the start that they were willing to cooperate, provided they could find a worthy replacement,” says El Ghouche. “That seemed like it would work a few times, but in the end it didn't work out.”

“It is of course disappointing if it does not happen, especially for Couhaib, who could make a very nice step. And for PSV, who wanted him there, but well, it was not to be.”

Feyenoord and the cryptic Story

Feyenoord was also clearly in the market for Driouech. The national champion was even able to use a replacement as change, in the person of Leo Sauer.

Ultimately, that deal collapsed for unknown reasons. “That is something between the clubs, we played no role in that.”

The Instagram story of Couhaib Driouech's agent.

Although El Ghouche does not want to reveal which club Driouech preferred, he does want to clarify why he posted his cryptic Instagram Story about Feyenoord – PSV (see image above).

“We happened to go to that match, Couhaib and I, and I still had the ticket in my pocket. The news went everywhere after that and everyone was talking about Feyenoord and PSV. So I thought it was okay to make it known in that way. make both parties an option. Some may appreciate it and some may appreciate it less.”
