Latest update:

Fabrizio Romano shared more details about Chuba Akpom's possible transfer to Nottingham Forest on Thursday evening. The striker himself would like to leave for the current number sixteen of the Premier League, but a departure 'seems out of the question', says the Italian transfer market expert.

“Nottingham Forest has submitted an official offer to Ajax,” Romano begins his knowledge of the possible transfer in his Deadline Day Show on livestream platform Kick.

Forest want to rent Akpom, with an option to buy for sixteen million euros, which will become mandatory if the team is not relegated from the Premier League, Romano reveals.

“Ajax has rejected this offer and sent a counter-offer, which is very different from what Forest is currently offering. The player wants to leave,” the Italian emphasizes. “Akpom is pushing for a departure. He wants to fight for a chance in the Premier League.”

A little later, Romano reports a further development in his stream. “At the moment, Akpom's transfer seems to be off the table. Ajax does not give the green light and the counter-proposal is unacceptable for Nottingham Forest.”

“Under the current circumstances, negotiations will not continue. Either Ajax changes the conditions of the deal, or the transfer will not take place,” Romano concluded.

Also Mike Verweij from The Telegraph shares an update on the situation surrounding Akpom. He confirms that the Englishman wants to make the move to his home country and has more information about the counterproposal.

The Amsterdammers would want seventeen instead of sixteen million euros and also want more certainty that Forest will eventually have to take over Akpom in the summer. That certainty would come in the form of a purchase obligation in the event of relegation.
