Ajax has acquired its desired new striker. The Amsterdammers report the arrival of Julian Rijkhoff, who comes over from Borussia Dortmund. The nineteen-year-old attacker signs a contract until the summer of 2027, with the option of an extra year. Rijkhoff will play his matches for Jong Ajax for the time being.

Kelvin de Lang is pleased with the arrival of Rijkhoff. “Julian will be added to the training group of Ajax 1, but will play his matches at Jong Ajax in the near future. We are very happy that, despite the interest from a number of major clubs, Julian has wholeheartedly chosen to return to Ajax to fight for his chance here.â€

In the closing days of the transfer market, it was still questionable whether the transfer of the Purmerend could be realized. The Telegraph reported that the promising striker's patience was being tested as he waited for an agreement between the clubs.

In anticipation of the transfer, Rijkhoff already drove to Purmerend, but a permanent transfer did not happen until the final day of the transfer market. The Amsterdammers would prefer to sell first before Rijkhoff was attracted. In the meantime, other clubs inquired with agent Dick van Burik about the possibilities of attracting Rijkhoff, but the North Hollander expressed his preference for Ajax.

Football International came with a positive update later on Tuesday. “They've almost got it. That will be a formality,” journalist Tim van Duijn said TransferTalk. “I don't know if they can pull that off today (Tuesday, ed.), but that will be tomorrow (Wednesday, ed.) at the latest.”

Van Duijn was also able to report approximately what Rijkhoff should cost. “It concerns a small transfer fee, around one and a half million euros. Maybe a little more, with high bonuses and a sell-on percentage. Then he will simply come back. I think he can sign until 2028. You can fill that in,” Van Duijn was certain.

Rijkhoff comes from Ajax's youth academy and left for Dortmund at the beginning of 2021, which paid 130,000 euros for his services. The right foot also proved to be a goalscorer in Germany, but his official debut in the main squad did not materialize.

Rijkhoff scored 52 goals and 13 assists in 57 games for Dortmund's Under 19 team. The Dutch youth international was contracted until mid-2026 those Boruses. Rijkhoff did not participate in the Under 19 team of the German superpower last weekend as a precaution.
