Kenneth Perez was disturbed by the poor pitches in the last round of matches in the Eredivisie. The analyst finds it particularly incomprehensible that Almere City FC – Fortuna Sittard was canceled at the last minute due to defective field heating.

“It's not appropriate if you are a serious and professional company, which is what the KNVB is,” said the surprised Perez This was the Weekend. “Because in principle I don't give the greenkeepers debt. Because they do their best.”

“If you as a club want to spend 10 euros on something that costs 100 euros, to maintain it and make it perfect. Yes, then you get this,” Perez referred to the canceled match in Almere. “It's often the final item on the budget, so you just start chopping with your rake and we'll see.”

“While the field is the most important thing in football. Because that's where you have to do it. And at Almere it was completely embarrassing. A pipe did not work in a newly installed heating system. It still worked in the afternoon, said someone from Almere. But not just before the match. Isn't that amateurism at its finest?” Perez was extremely critical.

“As far as I'm concerned, whoever built it should be ready to intervene if necessary. But no, nice and laconic. Fortuna should just come back. All the way back to Sittard and back again. I understand that the owner of Fortuna is furious,” Perez was referring to the strong criticism expressed by Isitan Gün.

Perez wants the KNVB to implement a stricter policy towards the clubs. “A certain percentage of the budget must go to the field. Spend the money on good ones greenkeepers and not to the third left back who never plays anyway.”

Gun blazing
“A club that is not getting its affairs in order, not since Thursday, despite our warnings,” Gün grumbled on his Instagram Stories. “The Eredivisie must stop talking nonsense and take an example from LaLiga and other competitions in terms of professionalism. This is a joke.”
