Tom Egbers was in no way involved in the new design of the Studio Sport Eredivisie program, it is known Algemeen Dagblad. The newspaper writes that the presenter was ‘completely surprised’ by the press release issued by NOS last Friday.

Egbers was suspended earlier this year by the NOS after accusations of inappropriate behavior. The 66-year-old presenter is said to have been guilty of bullying and intimidation. In addition, Egbers had a three-year affair with his much younger (former) colleague.

As a result of the revelation, NOS took Egbers off the air. The presenter was featured in the broadcasts of NOS Studio Sport Eredivisie and Andere Tijden Sport. The broadcaster indicated in March that Egbers wanted to ‘provide peace of mind to the editors and the program’.

Last Friday, NOS announced that it would be giving Studio Sport Eredivisie a completely new look. For the time being, the presentation is in the hands of Gert van ‘t Hof, who has replaced Egbers since March. However, the latter reportedly knew nothing about the change of course.

It Algemeen Dagblad writes that Egbers has made an agreement with the NOS through his lawyer that every press release that affects his work will first be submitted to him. That didn’t happen last Friday. The NOS states that conclusions were drawn too quickly.

“It does not say anywhere that Gert van ‘t Hof is the only permanent presenter of the program, but that is how the media has interpreted it,” said a spokesperson for the broadcaster. “NOS and Tom are in discussions. There is nothing new to report about this at the moment. If that is the case, we will do so.”

Discussions about return
Sources further report to the Algemeen Dagblad that Egbers is in discussions with NTR about a return to the Andere Tijden Sport program. The Almeloer has been the regular face of the program for years and may now get the chance to return. NTR denies that concrete discussions are being held.
