Ronald Koeman feels that as national coach of the Dutch national team, he must be careful with his words. The selector admires TV analyst Johan Derksen for his outspoken character and would love to get under his skin. “I would like to say a lot more than now,” said Koeman.

Koeman recently surrendered Rondo openly criticizes Brian Brobbey. The selection was somewhat shocked by the Ajax striker’s first assumption during training with the Dutch national team. Koeman returned to this on Tuesday. “I think I should have protected him a little more Rondo.”

Yet the national coach likes to speak out. “I would like to say a lot more, but not just about football. I would also like to say about other things… But then I think: at this time, from my position, unfortunately…”

Koeman likes to watch Today Inside. “When you’re on TV every evening… Johan Derksen says everything, and I think that’s nice. He’s right about quite a lot of things.”

Willem Vissers van de Volkskrant Koeman asks what he would most like to say something about. The national coach laughs. “Time is up, thank you,” jokes press secretary Bas Ticheler.

Koeman still answers Vissers. “Shall we agree that if I stop we will return to this setting? Then I will say everything I think,” Koeman promises. “That seems best to me.”

Derksen was shown the images of Koeman’s statements on Tuesday evening Today Inside. “A very wise man,” the TV personality joked.
