Social media are a cornerstone of society in 2023. Top players such as Lionel Messi, Memphis Depay and Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as clubs from home and abroad, provide an insight into the goings on (almost) every day via Instagram, Twitter or other internet channels. Special football moments also travel across the planet very quickly. Football zone put the craziest, most beautiful and striking posts on social media in the section VZ Social on a row.

Ajax has had an extremely dramatic start to the season so far. One of the few players who has managed to somewhat escape the malaise is seventeen-year-old Jorrel Hato. The young defender has now become an indispensable part of Ajax’s starting eleven, but appears to have been a Feyenoord supporter in his younger years.

On X A photo has been shared showing that Hato, as an eleven-year-old, celebrated Feyenoord’s 2017 championship in the port city. The top talent was born and raised in Rotterdam. Scouts from Sparta Rotterdam picked him up at the age of nine when he was playing for amateur club De Zwervers. “Some people around me thought it was strange that not Feyenoord, but Sparta, got me,” Hato recently said to Ajax Life. “When Ajax reported in 2018 and Feyenoord did not, that was also the case. It doesn’t matter to me. I ended up here just fine.”

Willem van Hanegem said in April that he found it ‘painful’ that Hato broke through at Ajax instead of Feyenoord. “That little guy is one for the future. I find it painful that he played for the amateurs of Feyenoord and was stolen by Ajax under the nose of Feyenoord from neighbor Sparta,” Van Hanegem wrote in his column for the Algemeen Dagblad.
