Kenneth Perez is critical of Joey Veerman in the half-time match between Sparta Rotterdam and PSV (0-0 score). The analyst of ESPN sees that Veerman is disturbed by the game of his teammates, as a result of which he threatens to lose sight of his own tasks. “He has to switch,” says Perez, who was very enthusiastic about Veerman after the cup final between Ajax and PSV (1-1, 2-3 ns) last week.

Perez is a fan of Veerman’s footballing qualities, but emphasizes that more is required than that. “In terms of insight and things like that, Veerman is the best player at PSV, together with Xavi Simons. Veerman is so annoyed with his fellow players today that he actually forgets what he actually has to do: that is to switch.” Perez shows a number of moments in which Veerman argued with teammates, instead of taking his position again.

Veerman enters into a discussion with Simons.

“That’s a downside to him,” says Perez. “He should actually practice that every match. He is busy with the fact that Xavi Simons has given him a failed heel ball. He does not agree with that, but he does not back down. Moments later in the first half, he was irritated because Guus Til can’t play football very well.” Veerman made a run forward, but Til lost the ball.

“Then Veerman stands still for a while… A so-called mourning moment, which you should not have as a midfielder. He may be right, but he should not let his own game be influenced by it,” says the Danish former midfielder.
