UEFA will launch an investigation into Juventus. The European Football Association announces that it will look into possible violations of the Financial Fair Play rules of the Turin club. On Monday it was already known that the entire board of Juventus resigned immediately, including chairman Andrea Agnelli and vice-chairman Pavel Nedved.

The Club Financial Control Body First Chamber (CFCB) is investigating. The supervisory body of UEFA will focus on two things in particular. For example, it is being examined whether Juventus artificially increased transfer fees, which would have happened especially with exchange deals such as those of Arthur Melo and Miralem Pjanic in 2020. It is also being investigated whether players who waived their salary after the outbreak of the corona pandemic were still paid undeclared. The CFCB reached an agreement with Juventus in August about the amount of money the club would be allowed to spend to stay within the limits of the Financial Fair Play.

If the CFCB concludes that Juventus has breached the rules, the Financial Fair Play payments may be stopped. Further sanctions could also be imposed on the current number three of the Serie A. On Monday, several Italian sources reported that an investigation into forgery and fraud, called Prismwould be the reason for the board’s inexorable decision to resign en masse.

La Vecchia Signora would have cheated with the accounting in the years 2019, 2020 and 2021, according to the court. Juventus has long been a suspected protagonist in the investigation. The CONSOB, the Italian body in charge of supervising financial activities, recently asked the club for clarification. In April it was already known that the prosecutor in professional football in Italy demanded a fine of 800,000 euros for Juventus. It was also demanded that Agnelli should be suspended for a year. The other board members also received a possible suspension.
