Fenerbahçe has finished second in the Süper Lig this season. In the last league game at Malatyaspor, the Yellow Canaries enough to keep the spot it already had, which entitles it to the second qualifying round of the Champions League. Fener even outperformed that and claimed a solid 0-5 victory. Last season’s national champion Besiktas concluded the season in a striking way by drawing 1-1 at home against number three Konyaspor and finishing seventh.

Malatyaspor – Fenerbahce 0-5
Closer Malatyaspor had already lost nine games in a row and helped the visitors into the saddle after 23 minutes of play. Baris Basdas pushed an opponent to the ground during a scuffle and was allowed to leave with an immediate red card. With 32 minutes on the clock, Serdar Dursun opened the scoring. After seeing two attempts on goalkeeper Abdulsamed Damlu and the crossbar, the ball ended up at the striker with a new pass from Diego Rossi. Dursun cleverly sent the ball from the spin to the corner with his head: 0-1. With that, the halftime score was also on the scoreboard.

In the second act, the team of trainer Ismail Kartal gave the list pusher a very painful farewell to the highest level. First, Serdar Aziz headed in the 0-2 goal from a corner from Mert Hakan Yandas, after which Irfan Kahveci lifted the margin to three with a low-placed shot. Enner Valencia seemed to take care of the final city fifteen minutes before the end by tapping the ball past Damlu, but the Ecuadorian added another one in the penultimate minute.

Besiktas – Konyaspor 1-1
The Black Eagles have been a shadow of last season’s championship team all season and also fell behind on the last day of play. Three minutes before half time, Amar Rahmanovic sent Konrad Michalak away on the left with a deep ball, after which the midfielder himself sprinted towards the box. Completely overlooked by the home side’s defense, Rahmanovic arrived just in time to tap in Michalak’s cross. The visitors seemed to hold onto that score until the final whistle, until Kenan Karaman’s header didn’t end Besiktas’ season completely on a negative note.
