Thomas Müller has extended his contract with Bayern Munich, the club reports via the official channels. The attacking midfielder entered the youth academy at the age of ten of the Rekordmeister and got his first professional contract with the club in 2008. By signing his signature, Müller will remain associated with the South Germans at least until 2024. His previous contract expired a year earlier.

Müller is pleased with the contract extension. “My journey from the youth teams to the Bayern Munich first team has been a fantastic success story so far. I enjoy it every year to keep the red colors on and off the field.” Oliver Kahn, chairman of Bayern, is also satisfied with the contract extension. “Thomas Müller is a role model who carries our club’s coat of arms in his heart,” said the former Bayern goalkeeper.

“Continuity has always characterized Bayern, so we are pleased to be able to extend the contract with this important player. He is someone who takes the lead and with his style he is an important person in the dressing room.” Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic is equally pleased with the news. “You cannot imagine Thomas Müller without Bayern – and Bayern not without Thomas Müller We are therefore very pleased that Thomas has extended his contract early until the summer of 2024. Thomas is a leader who is hungry for success, he is a role model on and off the pitch and embodies Bayern in a great way.”

Müller broke through at Bayern in the 2009/10 season under Louis van Gaal. Since then, he has made 624 appearances for the club, scoring 226 goals and providing 242 assists. The German also made it to international level. Since 2010, Müller has been part of the selection of the Mannschaft† In 2018, he seemed to retire as an international, but Müller returned to the selection for the European Championship of 2021. For Germany, Müller played 112 international matches, in which he scored 43 times and was the pointer of a goal 40 times. He won the World Cup title with his country in 2014 by beating Argentina 1-0 in the final.
