PSV still hopes that Cody Gakpo will stay with the club, it writes Eindhovens Dagblad† The wing attacker is experiencing an excellent season with the people of Eindhoven and seems to be taking a step next summer. However, PSV does not have to sell financially, because some other players of the number two in the Eredivisie are in the explicit interest of other clubs.

In the match against WIllem II, the PSV supporters were quite clear about their wish. “Cody must stay”, echoed from the stands of the Philips Stadium. Gakpo is one of the eye-catchers in Eindhoven this season with 18 hits and 15 assists in 43 official appearances and would be the focus of attention from various foreign clubs. Arsenal in particular is associated with the four-time international of the Dutch.

PSV has set Gakpo’s price tag at at least forty million euros and can look forward to a possible outbreak of a bidding war between the interested parties. However, the club management still hopes for the attacker to stay on. Several PSV players would be in the interest of other clubs, which makes the sale of Gakpo less urgent financially.

Leicester City and Newcastle United, for example, follow the actions of Ibrahim Sangaré. The Ivorian must deliver PSV between 25 and 30 million euros according to the Eindhovens Dagblad† Noni Madueke has a similar price tag hanging around his neck, while Philipp Max, Érick Gutiérrez and Mario Götze may also leave Eindhoven. The latter has a limited transfer fee in his contract with a value between three and four million euros.

Last month wrote The Telegraph that PSV is thinking of the ‘Memphis Depay route’ for Gakpo. The seasoning could remain on under improved conditions. The club management hopes to take the national title with Gakpo in the team next season; after the 2014 World Cup, PSV managed to keep star players Georginio Wijnaldum and Depay for another year and eventually become champions of the Netherlands. The duo then made transfers to Newcastle United and Manchester United respectively.
