Angela de Jong will be a guest at Today Inside on Thursday evening. The columnist of the Algemeen Dagblad attends with some regularity, but because of the recent statements in the program, he doubted whether she still wanted to be present. Wednesday evening at On 1 and Thursday morning at good morning Netherlands she explained her decision to sit down at the table anyway.

On Wednesday, writer and columnist Roos Schlikker announced that he would no longer attend the broadcasts. The regular dinner guest responded to a call from presenter Margriet Vroomans, who expressed the wish ‘that no woman wants to be a guest in this raunchy program where a rapist gets the laughter on his hand’. “Well, my husband was just as into it as Roos, I must say”, De Jong told Wednesday evening at On 1† “That was a nice discussion. He said, ‘Don’t go, you’re crazy. You shouldn’t sit there and legitimize it.”

The well-known media critic spoke about it with several people. “They convinced me that if I’m so tough here to criticize them, and I’m at Goedemorgen Nederland to criticize them, I should also be there to say that criticism right in their face.” De Jong does not think it is a good idea to take the program off the pipe, she told Goedemorgen Nederland. “Well, that is called every few years and I am not in favor of that whole cancel culture. I also find that too easy. If you take them off now, they would become a kind of martyrs of free speech.”

De Jong doubted whether she would still go to Today Inside. “I’ve really thought about it. That appointment has been in place for two or three weeks, as is often the case there. I thought, should I go now? On the one hand I can understand the consideration of a Roos Schlikker not to sit there anymore, but I also find that a bit too easy.” On Thursday, Talpa reported that Johan Derksen will apologize for his statements of the past few days. He appeared to say on Tuesday that he penetrated a woman with a candle in his younger years, although he said on Wednesday that there was no penetration. Other diners laughed at the confession.
