ADO Den Haag is looking for a new trainer. The board reports that Ruud Brood will leave the Cars Jeans Stadium with immediate effect. Assistant Giovanni Franken will temporarily take over the honors with the number six from the Kitchen Champion Division, with former player Edwin Grünholz as his right hand. Brood has been associated with the sub-topper from The Hague since 2020. Last year he relegated with the club from the Eredivisie.

“With immediate effect, Giovanni Franken will become head coach of ADO Den Haag for the rest of the season with Edwin Grünholz as his assistant,” the club management said in a statement on Monday. “With this impulse, ADO Den Haag will enter the rest of the competition and then the play-offs with new impetus. With this, the new owner immediately puts his stamp on the technical policy. Giovanni Franken is now assistant coach and moves on to the highest position. Ras Hagenees Edwin Grünholz will remain in his current assistant position.”

ADO thanks Brood for his contribution ‘in a turbulent time for the club’. The departed trainer has not yet responded to the decision to end the collaboration. With Franken at the helm, the preparations for the away match against Jong Ajax on Monday 7 March will begin. With a win in Amsterdam, ADO rises to fifth place in the Kitchen Champion Division. The difference with leader FC Volendam is fourteen points, so that there is no longer any talk in The Hague about possible title opportunities.

Brood’s departure may have to do with the arrival of Globalon Football Holdings, the new owner of the club, although this is not referred to in ADO’s press release. Besides Brood, team manager Dave Sietaram will also leave the court city with immediate effect.
