The match in the Kitchen Champion Division between ADO Den Haag and Telstar from Friday will be rescheduled to Monday 21 March, the KNVB reported on Wednesday evening. Due to storm damage to the Cars Jeans Stadium, sustained during storm Eunice last weekend, the stadium cannot be declared safe in time.

Eunice already canceled all professional football matches on Friday: seven in the Kitchen Champion Division and one in the Eredivisie. The storm caused panels to come off and part of the roof above the Lex Schoenmaker and Haaglanden stands was damaged. ADO reported on Monday that due to the weather conditions, it was not yet possible to conduct a thorough investigation into the damage, but that has now happened.

As the lessor of the stadium, the municipality has hired external parties who will carry out further investigations this week into the safety of the roof construction and the roof sheets that have blown off. The initial findings of the investigation show that a number of safety measures must be taken before the Cars Jeans Stadium can be released by construction and housing authorities. According to ADO, everything indicates that this work will be completed well before the next home game on Friday, March 11, so that the stadium can be used again for the match against Jong PSV.

All supporters in possession of a ticket for the match against Telstar will receive a personal message about this. The game was scheduled to be played at 8 PM on Friday, but is now scheduled for March 21 at the same time. Alderman Anne Mulder expects fans to be present again on 11 March against Jong PSV. “It is of course a shame that next Friday’s game has to be moved. Everyone is longing for a match visit now that the Corona measures have been lifted. Fortunately, the game is expected to continue on March 11 and is safe for all visitors, players and attendees in the stadium. .”
