Cody Gakpo will not travel with PSV to Israel for the return of the intermediate round of the Conference League against Maccabi Tel Aviv. The people of Eindhoven communicate through the official channels that the attacker has suffered minor ankle complaints from last Sunday’s home game against sc Heerenveen. Marco van Ginkel and Maxime Delanghe will not board the plane on Wednesday morning either.

The absence of Van Ginkel and Delanghe has to do with the stricter corona measures in Israel. PSV writes that the two took a positive PCR test after a previous corona infection. “They have complied with the quarantine obligation,” says PSV. “According to Dutch guidelines, there is no longer any reason for isolation or restrictions, but travel to Israel is only possible with a negative PCR.”

Gakpo is also not there against Maccabi Tel Aviv due to minor ankle complaints. The attacker therefore did not complete the ninety minutes against sc Heerenveen. Trainer Roger Schmidt has added five young PSV players to the selection due to the absences of Dennis Vos, Jenson Seelt, Johan Bakayoko, Ismael Saibari and Kjell Peersman. Érick Gutiérrez is also ‘normal’ in the party: the Mexican midfielder had to go off the field with a stretcher on Sunday, but appears not to have suffered any serious injury. PSV defend a 1-0 lead in Tel Aviv on Thursday evening.

Full PSV squad: Jordan Teze, Ibrahim Sangaré, Eran Zahavi, Carlos Vinícius, Noni Madueke, Erick Gutiérrez, Joël Drommel, Mauro Júnior, Olivier Boscagli, Bruma, Joey Veerman, Ritsu Doan, Mario Götze, Phillipp Mwene, Philipp Max, Yorbe Vertessen, Dennis Vos, Johan Bakayoko, Jenson Seelt, Ismael Saibari, Kjell Peersman.
