Real Madrid booked a resounding victory in LaLiga on Saturday night. In the Estadio Bernabéu, the formation of trainer Carlo Ancelotti was far too strong for Deportivo Alavés: 3-0. The first two goals were of great beauty: Marco Asensio scored in a typical way with a shot from distance; Vinícius Júnior made it 2-0 after a series of ‘royal’ combinations. The Madrilenians spend the night at the top of the rankings with seven points ahead of Sevilla, which, however, can reduce the deficit to four points on Sunday.
Without Toni Kroos and with Fede Valverde at the kick-off, Real Madrid had a difficult opening phase. The Royal had the ball, but they failed to create large, imposed chances. Ancelotti’s team even looked somewhat uninspired, but that was different in the second half. The first warning shot came from the foot of David Alaba, who saw his attempt dived from the corner four minutes after the break by goalkeeper Fernando Pacheco.

In the 63rd minute, the closing post had to be unable to answer to an insane swipe from Asensio. The striker typically cut in from the right-hand side before curling the ball into the far corner with the left: 1-0. This was the fence of the dam and Real Madrid started to play football freely. Fifteen minutes before the final whistle, Karim Benzema came close to making it 2-0 after a combination with Vinícius, but the post stood in the way of another Madrid success.

The score was doubled five minutes after the ball hit the post. After nice combinations over various discs, the leather ended up in front of Vinícius, who was able to tap in from close range: 2-0. In particular, Benzema’s heels earlier in the attack were of great beauty. The 3-0 final score was determined in stoppage time, when Benzema scored from eleven meters. A foul by Florian Lejeune on substitute Rodrygo was the reason for referee José Munuera to put the ball on the spot.
