The KNVB has drawn a line through all matches that were scheduled for Friday evening in professional and amateur football. The football association has announced that it is not considered responsible to continue the duels due to the approaching storm Eunice. It means that there will be a line through seven matches in the Kitchen Champion Division and an Eredivisie match.

“In consultation with the clubs, it has been decided to cancel the matches because the safety of players, club employees and supporters in and around the stadium cannot be sufficiently guaranteed due to the extreme weather,” the KNVB said on its website. The football association previously announced that the amateur matches in field and indoor football would not take place on Friday and there were still discussions about the duels in professional football.

Fortuna Sittard – which would play the only Eredivisie match against Sparta on Friday evening – communicated on Friday morning that the game would continue, based on ‘the available information and the yellow code for Limburg’. However, the KNVB has decided not to let all matches continue and has announced that the canceled matches will be rescheduled in the short term.

The KNMI has announced code red for the west of the Netherlands. From 2 p.m., dangerous situations are expected in Zeeland, South Holland, North Holland, Friesland and Flevoland and the IJsselmeer area and the Wadden area due to storm Eunice, with wind gusts of 100 to 130 kilometers per hour. The storm also has consequences for public transport and air traffic.
