The situation of Mino Raiola is according to Sports Image more disturbing than previously reported by the top agent himself. Raiola has been in intensive care at the San Raffaele hospital in Milan for several weeks, the German magazine reported. Raiola is there because of a lung disease. The latest state of affairs is according to Sports Image that ‘it is going a little better under the circumstances’.

The reporting seems to be at odds with the announcement that Raiola himself made to the world on Wednesday 12 January via his Twitter account. “Mino Raiola is undergoing regular medical checkups that require anesthesia,” it read. “Everything was planned and there was no emergency surgery.” As a result, the reporting of La Gazzetta dello Sport, which earlier that day did speak of emergency surgery, has already been denied.

Raiola ended up in the hospital in mid-January. The agent was in preparation for a meeting with the Borussia Dortmund management about the future of Erling Braut Haaland. The Norwegian superstar is mentioned at Barcelona and Real Madrid, among others, but he can also extend his stay in Germany. Dortmund hopes to seduce Haaland with a generous salary for the coming years. Sports Image now adds that Raiola will likely have to continue negotiations remotely. When that will be possible is unclear.
