Ajax seems to be stealing Mohamed Ihattaren in front of FC Utrecht. It General Newspaper reported last week that the nineteen-year-old attacking midfielder was ‘fast on his way’ to the Dom city. The Telegraph writes, however, that the transition to Utrecht had not yet been completed, because ‘financial issues’ between Ihattaren and Juventus still had to be resolved.

As a result, Ajax can now get away with Ihattaren at the last minute, despite the fact that Utrecht and Juventus had ‘mainly’ agreed on a rental period of one and a half years. It General Newspaper reports that the situation changed when Ajax showed its interest. The Telegraph, Football International and the General Newspaper write that Ihattaren subsequently spoke with trainer Erik ten Hag.

The Telegraph writes that this conversation with Ten Hag went ‘very positively’. Subsequently, agent Ali Dursun also sat down with director of football affairs Marc Overmars. Utrecht has been ‘on hold’ for this, it says General Newspaper. It now seems that Ihattaren is making the switch to Ajax on a rental basis.

ESPN initially stated that it would involve a six-month lease, but the parties would at the moment, according to the Italian branch of Goal still negotiating. The Telegraph speaks of a rental period of one and a half years and transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano states that Juventus is willing to include an option to buy in the rental agreement, something that is also ESPN reports. Romano writes on Twitter that Ihattaren only has to figure it out himself with Ajax for the time being. Romeo Agresti, Juventus watcher for Goal, expect white smoke in two to three days.

Ihattaren has been working with Gerald Vanenburg for several weeks to improve his condition and the former international is said to have sent a positive signal to Ajax. Ihattaren left PSV last summer, after 74 matches in the shirt of the Eindhoven club, to Juventus. The Italian superpower rented him directly to Sampdoria, but that rental period turned out to be a big disappointment. Ihattaren did not play a minute for Sampdoria.
