The big fight for Erling Braut Haaland’s signature is about to ignite. The Spanish press in particular often talks about the 21-year-old top striker of Borussia Dortmund, who is in the very strong interest of Barcelona and Real Madrid. According to marca Barca president Joan Laporta is now convinced that Haaland will play at the Camp Nou next season.
Laporta does not want to comment publicly about the Norwegian attacker, but reportedly does so internally. “I am going to bring Haaland to this club this summer,” the Barcelona president would have assured his colleagues in small company. Last Monday, Laporta kept quiet when he was asked about Haaland at the presentation of Ferran Torres. “I’m not going to talk about other players because it doesn’t benefit us,” the president said at the time. “The only thing that happens is that the player becomes more valuable. We are working on strengthening our team.”
While Fabrizio Romano assures that Haaland hasn’t made a choice yet and won’t this month, believes Deportes Cuatro that Barcelona has good papers. It speaks in favor of the Catalans that Haaland will be the absolute leader of the sporting project at the Camp Nou. The goal-getter would rather not play with Kylian Mbappe, who is expected to sign with Real Madrid soon.
Laporta believes there will be enough room in the salary budget next summer to bring in Haaland. The Norwegian is expected to demand a salary of thirty million euros gross per year. A gigantic sum, which the president of Barcelona thinks he can pay by saying goodbye to Samuel Umtiti, Philippe Coutinho, Neto and possibly Ousmane Dembélé. For the time being, however, it is not yet that far and Barca must first create space to enroll Dani Alves and Ferran Torres in LaLiga.
