There is a good chance that Max de Waal will finish the season at PEC Zwolle, writes The Telegraph Thursday. According to the newspaper, Ajax and the last of the Eredivisie are in talks about a lease for the rest of the football year. Nineteen-year-old De Waal is Ajax’s top scorer this season.

Ajax gives according to The Telegraph his fiat to a rental only if the attacker extends his contract for at least one season. The teen’s current agreement will expire in the summer of 2023. Ajax thinks that it is better for the development of De Waal to play at Eredivisie level than another six months in the Kitchen Champion Division.

Young Ajax coach John Heitinga transformed De Waal from an attacking midfielder into a striker and that paid off. The counter stands at nine goals in the Kitchen Champion Division; more than any other Jong Ajax player. Heitinga’s team is currently fifth in the ranking.

PEC is looking for productive football players, as the last eighteen matches of the Eredivisie only came to nine hits. Trainer Dick Schreuder is therefore in favor of the arrival of De Waal.
