Ousmane Dembele screens with two very lucrative contract proposals from the Premier League, Fabrizio Romano reports. The transfer market expert knows that at least one of those offers will come from Newcastle United. The Magpies have long been interested in the 24-year-old Barcelona forward, who has turned down an offer to extend his contract.

Dembele previously expressed his intention to stay at Barca and extend his expiring contract at the Camp Nou. However, on Wednesday evening, transfer expert Gerard Romero revealed that there is a hitch: Moussa Sissoko, Dembélé’s agent, had a meeting with a delegation from Barcelona earlier in the day. The meeting was anything but positive and Sissoko made it clear that Dembele has absolutely no intention of signing under the current conditions.

It grieves the Dembele camp that Barca is apparently able to pay €55 million for Ferran Torres, but cannot meet his salary demands due to ‘so-called’ financial problems. Dembele’s position is crystal clear: he wants to stay at Barcelona, but only if his wishes are met. According to Romero, Dembélé demands an astronomical salary of forty million euros per year and a signing premium of twenty million euros.

Barcelona have not yet given up hope of a new contract, but consider the situation “very complicated”, according to Romano. Dembélé can officially negotiate a transfer-free transfer to a new employer from New Year’s Day. A move to the Premier League therefore seems most likely at the moment, because, according to Romano, ‘big money’ is offered to the wing striker from that competition.
