Bayern Munich plunged VfL Wolfsburg deeper into its crisis on Friday evening. The team of Julian Nagelsmann settled convincingly and without any problems with the Lower Saxons: 4-0. Still, Wolfsburg might have been better off if Wout Weghorst had handled the situation better at a 1-0 score with two great opportunities that the striker got. With one more game, Bayern has played nine points more than pursuer Borussia Dortmund, while Wolfsburg is twelfth in a row after five (!) defeats.

The match unfolded for Wolfsburg under the worst possible scenario. The visitors naturally hoped to keep the leader at 0-0 for a long time, but had to get the ball out of their own goal in the seventh minute. Serge Gnabry fired from a great distance at Koen Casteels’ gloves, after which Thomas Müller got an unmissable score: 1-0. Weghorst should have made the 1-1 straight away, but the the Dutch striker encountered Manuel Neuer from seven meters.

Although Bayern were much stronger in the remainder of the first half, the home team still failed to take advantage of a really big chance. Leroy Sané in particular was a plague for the defense of with his dribbling the Wölfe, but his crosses just missed twice. On the other side, Weghorst got the ball again at the end of the first half in a promising position. However, the center attacker produced a roller from ten meters.

After the break there was no stopping Wolfsburg. After an hour of play, Dayot Upamecano headed in from a cross from Müller: 2-0. Two minutes later, the 3-0 followed via Sané, who placed the ball on the edge of the penalty area to the left and then curled it into the far corner. That Robert Lewandowski also got his much desired goal in the final phase was thanks to Jamal Musiala, who put the ball ready for him with his head: 4-0. lewa also finished it artistically with a half-flying volley.
