ADO Den Haag started the third period of the Kitchen Champion Division excellently on Friday evening. In the Cars Jeans Stadium, NAC Breda was put aside relatively easily with 4-1. Thomas Verheydt was the big man at ADO with two goals, with which he already scored for the seventh game in a row. Leader FC Volendam had a hard time visiting Almere City, but in the end managed to win a 2-3 victory.
ADO The Hague – NAC Breda 4-1
The residents of The Hague had not lost a point for seven games in a row and announced early in the game that they would extend that series. Vicente Besuijen gave the ball well from the left to striker Verheydt, who headed in for his fifteenth of the season. Thom Haye tied the score ten minutes before half time. The midfielder, who already scored a beautiful goal in the midweek cup meeting with FC Utrecht (3-2), once again found the net beautiful after a combination with Ralf Seuntjens. As so often, it was again Verheydt who gave ADO the lead. Besuijen was knocked out by Moreno Rutten five minutes after the break; Verheydt shot the ensuing penalty flawlessly into the corner. NAC’s resistance seemed broken and soon afterwards the team from Breda was beaten by Samy Bourard’s 3-1. Ruud Brood’s team secured the win without too much effort; Bourard even made it 4-1.

Almere City – FC Volendam 2-3
Almere City, still without the new head coach Alex Pastoor on the bench, made it extremely difficult for leader FC Volendam in the opening phase. After half an hour of play, the club even took the lead. Goalkeeper of the visitors Filip Stankovic clumsily shot the ball into the feet of Jonas Arweiler, who offered Lance Duijvesteijn an unmissable chance: 1-0. The number eighteen then boldly went in search of the second. It also seemed to hang in the air for a long time, until Volendam came to the same level out of nowhere. After a lightning-fast counter, Robert Mühren scored beautifully from a cross by Daryl van Mieghem. After that Volendam had the ghost. Walid Ould-Chikh put his club ahead twenty minutes before the end with a hard and low shot into the right corner; Ibrahim El Kadiri made the 1-3 with his first action. Almere City brought the tension back for a while via Duijvesteijn, but in the end did not come alongside.

MVV Maastricht – FC Emmen 0-1
The first half was evenly matched in Stadium De Geusselt. MVV created good opportunities through Sven Blummel and Lorenzo Burnet; on the other hand, it was mainly Jeredy Hilterman that was a scourge for the Limburg defence. However, after 45 minutes of play, the glasses position was still on the scoreboard. Three minutes after the break, MVV had a great opportunity through Mart Remans, but then the visitors finally took matters into their own hands. After a disallowed goal – which had already happened to Emmen in the first half – Jassin-Amin Assehnoun still signed for the 0-1 in the 60th minute. MVV tried with all their might to equalize, which the club almost succeeded two minutes before the end via Mitchy Ntelo. However, Brouwer saved Emmen, keeping the club in the lead of the lead.
Telstar – Young PSV 0-0
Despite many injuries, Jong PSV did quite well in Velsen-Zuid. The Eindhoven reserves dominated the match, but failed to take advantage of the opportunities. For example, Telstar defender Siebe Vandermeulen sent Johan Bakayoko at his own goalkeeper Abdel El Ouazzane with a wrong pass: the latter saved in the short corner. After the break Bakayoko managed to cut out Yaël Liesdek with another big chance, only to hit the side net.
VVV Venlo – TOP Oss 2-3
The match started well for VVV, when Mitchell van Rooijen was able to work in a low cross from Yahcuroo Roemer in the eighth minute: 1-0. Quite surprisingly TOP, after all only the number eighteen in the competition, took full control. VVV was first spared a few times with great opportunities, but just before half-time the team from Brabant struck twice. A low ball from Jearl Margaritha was missed by everyone except Ilounga Pata: 1-1. Rick Stuy van den Herik then managed to control a ball in freedom from the side, to finish in a controlled manner: 1-2. Twenty minutes after the break, Kay Tejan made it even better for TOP, by also entering the penalty area cool-bloodedly: 1-3. Sven Braken managed to reduce the tension ten minutes before the end by hitting a very difficult corner behind the second post: 2-3.
